So there I was, surfing around, checking out Chart Magazine's site... when voila! My favorite little Vancouver record label is putting out a compilation... complete with Run Chico Run, Circlesquare and those lovely little Lucksmiths. Happy, happy me. I can't wait until it comes out.

A goth record shop in the Scottish Highlands. It's name: Weresheep. As in "werewolf."
Sadly, said shop does not have a website.

12:25 pm - ALL AGES - Billy and the Lost Boys at the Vancouver Warped Tour
And... they're back in Vancouver! This makes for a very, very happy Dropkick Queen. So much touring. So few Vancouver shows. (And gosh, it will be nice to see them in an all ages atmosphere -- kids are the best. Adults stand around, drink their beer and try to look cool. Blech!)
So. I'm taking it upon myself yet again to cross-post all over the place with the details... spreading the Billy love...

Any of you fucks ever heard of the Salteens?
I just stole my boyfriend's "Let Go Of Your Bad Days" CD a week ago. I won't give it back. It's twenty-eight minutes of poppy, happy, Karen Carpenter-esque bliss and it's MINE.
I found downloadable mp3s here, and streaming music here. "Time You Have Been Wasting" and "Thoughts From Sound" are particularly fabulous.
Looks like they're sort of a sister band to the Lucksmiths. Nice.

11:20 am - Billy and the Lost Boys ALL AGES show
I just saw Billy and the Lost Boys play in Vancouver a couple weeks ago, and they ROCKED SO HARD. I'm a new convert. Totally the best live show I've seen in a really long time. Billy is this tiny little girl with an awsome voice and mad, mad guitar chops -- what's not to love? Their CD's been on repeat on my computer ever since... They've got some clips up here -- "Breaking Down the Barriers" is particularly kick-ass.
Anyway, they're on tour doing tons of all ages shows! As a newly won-over fan, I will spread the love and provide the details:

Okay, okay, it's been three days since I first heard it and I can't get "Mendoza Line" out of my fucking head. Not only that -- it's contagious! I sang the catch phrase twice around my roommate and he started. And then threatened me with bodily harm when he kept singing it for the next three hours.

I just bought Starburst-brand "Smackers" lipgloss in Red Cherry -- and now I smell and taste like cotton candy. Not exactly the desired effect.
When do I get to see Spirit of the West? And Chilliwack? And the Salteens? Why, June 25th at the Pure Music Festival! Woot! Hurrah for Canadian pop.

Sooo... here I am! Native of the Bay Area, residing in Vancouver. I'm all about little teeny-tiny bands that rock out like crazy... hence the relocation to Vancouver. Killer music scene.
This is my current obession.This is what they sound like. Oh. My. Lawd. How wonderful is 1+1=Heartache? Australians rule.
Also, I'm pretty thrilled with the Dudes these days. "Oh Caroline" gets stuck in my head daily.
